Seven Simple Ways to Celebrate Earth Day

1. Start a garden
2. Plant a native tree
3. Plant a native shrub
4. Plant some local wildflowers (as above: Trillium, Bellwort, Twinleaf, Hellebore, and that old standby of this blog, Bloodroot)
5. Start feeding local birds
6. Make nature part of your day every day(It is whether you know it or not)
7. Stand up to those who get some perverse pleasure out of destroying nature (I guess this last one is here as a reaction to the somewhat wanton destruction of trees I've seen recently in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia where I live. As I've looked at the destruction it's been hard to think that there isn't partly just a plain hatred of nature involved).

Can you hear John Denver singing... Celebrate Earth Day... too bad I can't type a bouncy line so the letters can represent the notes :)
